Sturt

Located in an industrial zone, this alterations and additions project retains the original Victorian Terrace facade whilst maximising amenity on a small site. The front facade and rooms are retained, whilst the rear is demolished to make way for a new two storey and roof terrace addition.

The spiral staircase provides a sculptural focal point which is experienced throughout the building. Offset from the northern boundary, the addition provides a peaceful outlook and access to natural sunlight on the ground floor, complemented by the Roof Terrace for outdoor entertaining. A material palette of brick and steel references both the original facade and industrial context, allowing the addition to sit comfortably in its surrounds.
